Silverdale primary school is not doing a prize giving this year.

Positive of having prize giving:

• So students have something to look forward at the end of year, and to stride to win an award
• It pushes kids to do their best in hope of achieving a recognition of achievement
• It is a chance to give students prizes for going above and beyond in their learning

Negative of having prize giving

• It could cause resentment, anger and depression
• It could be unfair to other students and to long.

Positive of not having prize giving

• Students feel the prize of learning

Negative

• Not being awarded something that you deserved for doing  some over or above the normal standed
• It stops the determination most students have for learning

Overall judgement

I think prize giving should be kept so students have something to achieve and to look forward to the end of the year and it is unfair to take it out of the school curriculum.
